A non-irritating scalp treatment that effectively reduces scalp dryness

Makes scalp feel nourished and healthier

I gladly welcomed Trinite Organiques Tender Mercy Scalp Elixir ($26) to my hair regimen during the winter months. Trinité Organiques is a small company that makes organic products for skin and hair without parabens, sulfates or other harmful chemicals. Trinité Organiques claims it brings “lasting relief from scalp itch, redness and flaking associated with psoriasis, dermatitis and various irritations.” Granted, my issues were not as grave as psoriasis or dermatitis, but my scalp tends to get flaky, itchy and dry during the cold winter months. All in all, it has responded very well to this rich and nourishing oil concoction.

I have always been a fan of natural hair treatments and solutions. I frequently use coconut, castor and olive oil on my hair and scalp as well as a number of essential oils that I add to my hair conditioner, masks and hot oil treatments. So, when I saw the ingredients list, I was impressed with the formulation. The oil contains three main types of ingredients: oils, botanical infusions and essential oils. The oils include organic extra-virgin olive oil, organic jojoba oil, organic sweet almond oil, organic hemp seed oil and organic neem seed oil. Neem oil is an oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of an evergreen tree, which is endemic to the Indian subcontinent. I found out that it helps treat excessive dryness of the scalp, prevents dandruff and promotes hair strength due to its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Infusions contain nice botanicals that promote healthy scalp and natural hair growth such as burdock root, nettle leaf and saw palmetto berry and willow bark extract contains salicylic acid, which helps unplug follicles and exfoliate. Finally, essential oils of peppermint and eucalyptus stimulate blood circulation while lavender and myrrh soothe the scalp by being both anti-inflammatory and antiseptic.

My experience with the oil has been pretty fulfilling. I would massage it into my scalp five or six times a week before going to bed. It has a pleasant aroma.  It is absorbed easily into the skin. It did not irritate my scalp. I can happily report that it was effective in reducing the dryness of my scalp. An added bonus was that my hair became shinier and softer after each use. I am pretty happy with this oil and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a healthier, nourished scalp.
