TIA Review by Erica:
I have never been a big fan of body wash. It's always struck me as over-priced body shampoo that leaves my skin itchy, irritated and dry. Ingredient lists often include artificial colors and fragrances, as well as sodium lauryl sulfates. But I was won over by Arcona Paradise Within Body Wash.
The Paradise Within Body Wash has a refreshing, light citrusy scent and an elegant golden hue and contains natural astringents, which leave my skin feeling clean but not dry. It has even come in handy for washing my face in a pinch.
Like many a body wash, Arcona Paradise Within Body Was is fun to use with a bath brush. It lathers up beautifully, and for us Americans, those suds are pretty much synonymous with "clean." The good news is that the bubbles don't come from sodium lauryl sulfates (SLS).
SLS is a chemical lathering agent widely used in personal hygiene and cleaning products, including soap, detergent, shampoo and toothpaste, as well as engine degreaser, floor cleaner and car wash. Yikes!
It is no surprise then that SLS can irritate the scalp, gums and skin. Beyond that, its level if toxicity is uncertain. Some claim SLS is related to cancer and hormone problems, but the scientific evidence is inconclusive (source). However, personal experience has taught me to avoid SLS. I recently switched to an SLS-free toothpaste after years of struggling with pimples and irritation around my lips. My skin cleared right up... No more blemishes at the corners of my mouth.
Arcona operates on the assumption "that whatever you put on your skin, goes into your body." They say their products contain no petrochemicals, binders or fillers, chemical stabilizers, parabens, sodium lauryl sulphates, perfumes, dyes, or any other caustic, toxic ingredients. I'm all for that! Got Questions? Contact Us
