TIA Review by Marta:
jane iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream hits all the bases by offering a natural looking foundation that doesn't compromise on coverage, there is a mineral SPF 25 with titanium dioxide as the sunscreen active, and some botanical antioxidants.

Now, the observant amongst you will notice that there are silicones listed amongst the ingredients. Jane Iredale tells me that these vegetable sourced silicones are derived from coconut alkanes. They are supposed to be a "green" alternative to silicones while not losing the silky feeling and oil control that they typically give cosmetic products. And I would certainly say that Glow Time gives a matte appearance to the skin, while feeling soft and lightweight.

Glow Time is so lightweight that almost instantly I forget that I am wearing it. And yet this is no wimp in the performance department. Coverage lasts all day and into the evening.

Useful anti-aging ingredients include antioxidant green and white teas, vitamin C and apple extract. There's even our friend radish root (a safe preservative). On the subject of natural preservatives, there is honeysuckle extract. This actually is a little controversial because it is said to contain para-hydroxy benzoic acid, which behaves in a very similar way to synthetic parabens. I haven't gotten to the bottom of this yet and I will do some more research on this soon.

Our Take...

Even those of who don’t blindly follow the latest trend have likely hankered after a BB cream. BB fever came to the US via Japan and Korea and these multi-tasking creams seem like such a good idea: primer or foundation, sunscreen, skin brightener and anti-ager all in one. What’s not to like?... Read Full Article

Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream leaves me undecided.. The product is very thick (due to the high spf) but can be smoothed out with some excessive blending, gives skin a beautiful glow, only a small amount is needed so the product should last a while.. But, it can cause breakouts due to the thick consistency. I ordered a few samples to match colors, I found that B5 worked best on my skin (wear RMS 22 for comparison). Again, I am on the fence as to loving it or hating it, I do believe there are other products on the market that will perform better and give me the glow and protection to my skin that I am looking for.

In my quest to find an adequate "barrier" (vs 'chemical') sunscreen, I've spent a fortune on multiple products/BB creams, etc. Barrier sunscreens are almost always some version of a product with zinc oxide. Chemical sunscreens are mostly everything else we've used in the past. For me personally, I've used La Roche-Posay's 'Anthelion 60' (or some variation of their sunscreens) as my go-to ('chemical') sunscreen for almost 35 years until switching to a zinc-based sunscreen in the last few months. I've tried MULTIPLE brands of "BB" creams and other zinc-based sunscreens with very little success in finding the right color. The ONLY color that has even come close to matching my VERY yellow-undertoned skin is Jane Iredale's Dream Tint (SPF 15) in medium dark. I do not EVER go out in the sun without sun protection and have not "sunbathed" since my early 20's, but I've never been sunburned, even in my 10 years of lifeguarding in my teens and early 20's. I would not call my skin "dark" by any stretch, but I am finding out, by process of spending money, that my skin tone is much darker than most.

Pros: Jane Iredale's Glow Time BB Cream is definitely the smoothest BB cream I've tried (including Suntegrity 5-in-1, Juice Beauty BB cream). It DOES require (for me) some decent level of moisturizer prior to application. The directions that come with the tube suggest 'dotting' tiny bits of the cream and smoothing them into each portion of the face. The scent was also definitely the least offensive of any of the zinc-based products I've tried.

Cons: Finding the correct color has been incredibly challenging (both with Jane Iredale's Glow Time BB cream, but with every other zinc-based cream I've tried). In particular with Jane Iredale's product, I tried both the 07 and the 09 with NO luck. I finally called the company's Personal Shopper who was incredibly nice; however, the company's definition of 'pink-undertoned' skin vs. yellow-undertoned' skin is definitely the opposite of what I've used in all of my years, both as a customer and when I modeled in my late teens and up until my mid to late 20's. We always said that anyone with yellow undertones needed 'cool' colors (i.e. in foundations) and those with pink undertones needed 'warm' colors in the same. Jane Iredale's color scheme is exactly the opposite. When I put a pea-sized quantity of the 07 on my face, it was as pink as anything I've ever worn on my face. I tried blending in some of my Jane Iredale medium dark Dream Tint to get it closer in color to my yellow undertones and it helped somewhat.

In conclusion, I think that I am done spending money on brand after brand of zinc-based creams that are simply not designed for individuals with yellow undertones in their skin. I gave this BB cream 3 stars because of all of the brands I've tried, it definitely went on more smoothly than the others. Until a company is able to make a color that works with my skin tones, I am going to have to stick with the Jane Iredale Dream Tint (SPF 15). Using my previous 'chemical' sunscreen on top of all of the fantastic TIA products I've purchased is just too much layering and product on my face.

The one thing that puzzles me is that "BB creams" (and the newer "CC", etc. creams) that came to market in the U.S., came from the Asian markets where women tend to have more yellow undertones than pink. If anyone has any suggestions on colors or brands, I would be grateful!! Jane Iredale's Personal Shopper's only suggestion was that I try a powder instead of a cream to provide sun coverage. I do not use ANY powders at my age--almost 59--because they tend to settle into my micro wrinkles and make me look much older.

I love the coverage and smell of this product. However, I have very sensitive skin and acne prone skin and have been using prescription Tazorac for acne for over a decade. I was so disappointed when after 1 month of use I have the worst cystic acne flare in over a decade. I stopped using the BB cream 5 days ago and the acne has already calmed down but now I'm going to have some mild scarring. If I had to guess what caused the flare it's probably the fact that it's not an oil free formula and there are a lot of plant based botanicals listed in the ingredients. That's what gives it the pleasant odor however if you have sensitive skin beware!

This has the most coverage of any BB cream I have tried and agree that at little serum or moisturizer helps blend it out. I will repurchase as I love the fact there is a mineral SPF, coverage, longevity and youthful glow. Again, the only negative is the consistency.

  • 5 stars 5 out of 5

I expected this BB to be little more than your average tinted moisturizer: super sheer and slightly drying. Glad I was wrong. The cream has the consistency and coverage of a liquid foundation with all the benefits of a mineral makeup product (no talc or other nasties) with SPF 25. Glow Time is aptly named – among its many hats, it will serve as an excellent bronzer for the sunny days to come.

Like many others I found this BB cream to be very thick, and difficult to blend without using a primer that adds slip to the skin. This BB cream give more coverage then others on the market today. I found the colors challenging to match my skin tone, and was between 5 and 7. I would recommend this to anyone looking for more coverage with a high SPF.

    Hi G,
I have to agree with you, the Jane Iredale Glow Time can be a bit thick to apply, however, I have found wonderful coverage and a perfect finish that is much easier to apply when mixing the bb cream with the tiniest drop of argan oil or YBF Private Reserve. And best of all, no breakouts from any nasties.

  • 5 stars 3 out of 5

Jane Iredale's Glow Time may be a true BB Cream with a good for your skin ingredients and spf included. However, it was the consistency that made blending difficult, giving a thick uncomfortable and unnatural mask type result.

I love love love this! I have replaced La Vie Celeste Creme Foundation with this product. I love the packaging of this and its consistency. It has a slight shimmer (BB#1). I use it around eyes and nose daily and over my whole face on times when I am applying a heavier make up for an evening out. I use Pure Pressed Base over the top and it removes the white-ish shimmer with a final glowing look. I may try one shade darker for in the summer.

I loved the coverage at first too! But after 4-6 weeks of use, I am totally broken out. Terribly like you Hannah. I sure hope if I discontinue that this goes away. I am 43 and have not broken out like this for many years. Any advice?

Unfortunately I really wanted this to live up it's name, this isn't much of a "glow"ing review and I've been so happy with all the products I've purchased here so far.
The product is hard to blend, way too thick and has caused the skin under my eye to my nose to break out in little red pimples, I'm almost 45 and haven't had pimples in a long time, well maybe from too much chocolate consumption at easter.
I'm still looking for a lovely BB cream, part sunscreen, foundation and moisturiser and this isn't it. Any suggestions anyone?

  • 5 stars 5 out of 5

I have spent upwards of $150.00 on foundations, but BB with some loose powder swept over it is by far the most impressive product I have used over the last twenty years. Blemishes are covered and my skin is left glowing.

  • 5 stars 4 out of 5

I was very excited to try Jane's BB cream as I know the quality of her products and it was reviewed as a full coverage BB cream which was just what I wanted for coverage of my rosacea. The coverage and quality are as advertised. My problem is that it's a little too rich and had given me some breakouts around my nose even during the winter when my skin is its driest. Accordingly I would highly recommend this product for those of us with really dry skin only. Also, I usually wear the second lightest shade in a foundation range but I find the #3 very pale. I've been combining it with my summer foundation to make it a little darker and less moisturizing.

Can you give me an idea what is the most neutral color. It is hard to tell by the little swatches on the website.

I do love Jane Iredale's products however I must write a negative review about this product. I was thrilled at first that Jane Iredale made a BB Cream as all the ones I have tried from the drugstore and sephora made me break-out and left my skin oily. I am certain it was due to the silicone among other not so favorable ingredients.
Regardless of where the silicones are derived from in the Jane Iredale BB Cream, I still find that it causes terrible break-outs!! My break-outs tend to be caused by hormones or stress but they typically remain in a few spots. This BB Cream made me break-out all over my forehead and cheeks!!! These are two areas that I rarely..if ever encounter break-outs.
In addition, the consistency of this BB Cream is much too thick! It is like putting on heavy theatre makeup!
I must say that I do use Jane Iredale powder with SPF and I am very happy with it. I just hope they can now make a BB Cream without pore clogging silicones!

Can anyone recommend a great BB Cream for dry skin that does not clog the pores or contain silicones?
