Crow's Feet

Let's face it — "crow's feet" ranks way up at the top of the list of unflattering aging terminology. Unfortunately, calling them by the much more pleasant sounding "laugh lines" doesn't make these wrinkles any more welcome. Crow's feet are often the first type of wrinkles to appear, typically forming in our 30s. They are caused by facial expressions such as smiling, laughing and frowning, and also by squinting. That last one, by the way, doesn't just happen in bright sunlight — smokers squint their eyes to keep out smoke. So while wearing sunglasses and giving up smoking will help, crow's feet can't be prevented entirely. They can, however, be treated by quality anti-aging products that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin that we lose as we age. Here are 10 very effective eye creams and serums that will help smooth away those laugh lines.

AQ Skin Solutions Eye Serum ($99 in the shop) contains a concentrated formula of Matrixyl 3000 and human growth factors to effectively diminish crow's feet and fine lines and lighten and tighten the eye area. Marta found that this serum is also "an excellent depuffer."

Skin Nutrition Night Cream ($75) is effective at fading stubborn wrinkles, evening out skin tone and reducing the appearance of pores. It combines a proprietary blend of super-berry extracts as well as vitamins A, C and E for superior levels of antioxidant therapy overnight during the skin's restoration period. Marta uses it "on crow's feet, lip lines and neck — wherever I need a richer cream. It really does fade lines."

YBF Correct eye cream ($150 in the shop)  contains peptides to reduce fine lines, crow's feet, wrinkles and puffiness, as well as Homeostatine to keep the skin moisturized, firm, and elastic. YBF co-founder Darrel reports that their new and improved formula does "a much better job at hydrating and providing/retaining moisture."

Snowberry Smoothing Eye Serum ($53) is formulated with peptides and herbal extracts to reduce eye puffiness and fine lines and treat dark circles. Reviewer Pam says "there is noticeable improvement in the elasticity and tone of the skin around my eyes."

Eslor Firming Eye Cream ($75)  is a hydrating eye cream that lifts, brightens and helps remove fine lines. It also calms inflammation while toning and brightening the delicate tissue under the eyes. Reviewer Kim says this cream "helps in smoothing out fine lines around the eye area."

Stemulation Elevate Eye Cream ($75 in the shop) combines stem cell growth factors with antioxidants and peptides to increase firmness and elasticity, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and minimize dark circles. Reviewer Ann found that Elevate "had a noticeable effect on crow's feet."

Mukti Age Defence Eye Serum ($91) uses peptides and Australian native extracts to promote skin elasticity, smooth fine lines, and eliminate puffiness and dark circles around the eye area. Reviewer Kathy happily reported that she "can actually see the wrinkles around my eyes have reduced more than 50%."

Amarte Eyeconic Eye Cream is an anti-wrinkle rejuvenator that delivers a 3.8% concentration of retinol with nano-encapsulated epidermal growth factor while giving vitality and resilience to your eyes without irritation. This powerful blend of active ingredients nourish, hydrate and promote elasticity around the delicate eye area. Marta's six-week test "has left my eye area, especially under and outer, looking smoother and more hydrated."

Sciote Peptide+Defense Firming Eye Creme ($65 in the shop) is a gentle but potent eye cream that uses aloe instead of water to soothe and hydrate the skin, as well as a blend of peptides that reduce wrinkles by inhibiting muscle contractions. This eye cream also contains glycolic and lactic acids to smooth skin without irritating the delicate eye area. Reviewer Mary sums it up by simply saying "I adore this eye cream!"

E'shee Clinical Esthetic Alpha and Omega Gene Therapy Eye Cream ($284 in the shop) uses an advanced restoration formula with breakthrough peptides, Far Infrared Ceramic Powder and the brand's signature epidermal growth factor, FGF1. This powerful eye cream improves skin's firmness and texture, reduces fine lines and deep wrinkles, rebuilds the extra cellular matrix, reduces dark circles and minimizes redness caused by rosacea and broken capillaries. Its high price point was deemed to be quite worth it by Marta, as she pronounced it "the best eye cream I have ever used."
