TIA Review by Naheed:
During the summertime, I prefer to use a light product on my face. Although I usually use BB cream along with sunscreen, it feels too heavy on my face during the hot summer months. I typically use Juice Beauty’s oil-free sunscreen, but lately I found that it was making my skin oily around the middle of the day.

I was glad when I was offered the opportunity to test Jane Iredale Dream Tint, as it promises to moisturize and also provide sun protection. It is a tinted moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 15. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends this product as an effective UVA/UVB sunscreen.

I am always looking for a light option that can provide coverage without the heavy makeup look, moisture, and sun protection minus the harmful chemicals that will damage my skin over time. Dream Tint is a light foundation with SPF and natural ingredients such as sunflower seed oil, pomegranate, jojoba, shea butter, and lavender that are great for your skin. The active ingredient in Dream Tint is titanium oxide, which is noncomedogenic, meaning it does not contain oil that can clog the skin’s pores. It also provides water resistance to 40 minutes.

This product has such a beautiful color that blends well with the perfect amount of light to medium coverage. On days that I don’t need fuller coverage but still want to look refreshed, I use just Jane Iredale Dream Tint and powder.

Overall, I was very satisfied with Jane Iredale Dream Tint and would recommend it to anyone looking for a tinted moisturizer that provides good coverage and sun protection.

Jane Iredale Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer did not meet the expectations for my teen daughter or myself. Ordering a few samples to try before hand is something I recommend to those who are interested in this product, as we did. I found the product application to be streaky with a waxy feel, it did absorb quickly but challenged the performance of my other products application and performance. My teen daughter believed this product contributed to excessive breakouts, something that I did not have myself.

Pros: This barrier sun screen tinted moisturizer (has zinc oxide which is considered a "barrier" sun screen VS. a "chemical" sun screen) has a lovely and easy spreadable quality. It goes on incredibly smoothly. Additionally, it DOES NOT settle in what I HOPE are only TINY micro-wrinkles (!) like many heavier foundations might. I am in my very late 50's and have pared my makeup regimen down to almost nothing. I use a primer (when I'm 'going out'), a bronzer spread lightly over my face, either liquid or more recently a cream blush (TIA's RMS product) w/ a tiny amount of powder blush to set it so I do not have to re-apply during the day, eyebrow pencil (my eyebrows never fully returned after chemo) and lip stain with moisturizer and lip gloss. If I feel like getting dressed up, I put a bit of shadow on my eyelids over a cream primer and use waterproof mascara (which I remove with a GENTLE remover very carefully). I live in an extremely HUMID climate and using non-waterproof mascara is like jumping in a swimming pool with the same!! My entire makeup routine (sans skin care!) takes less than five minutes

Adding the jane airedale Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer allowed me to cut out my last step of applying sun screen and evened out my skin a bit without 'settling' at all. One last "pro" is that a little product goes a long way. I've had my tube for a few weeks now, used it daily and have not even made a dent in the amount used. One other comment: over the years with many of the foundations and tinted moisturizers I've used, the scent was not very pleasant. This product has little to no scent or anything that I find that conflicts with my skin care regimen. The RMS (TIA store) cream blush goes on delightfully smoothly over the Tinted Moisturizer.

Cons: I wish it had a primer quality. Skin primers have only become popular in the last 3-4 years, but for me, they DO add a bit of polish to my very pared down makeup regimen. Since I no longer use a foundation, powder and only rarely use an under eye concealer, all to avoid having my makeup settle and cake. I find that less is better the older I get; this product DOES help even out the few slightly uneven spots on my face and nose, but it definitely is ONLY a tinted moisturizer and could not function for customers looking for a lighter foundation. Second con is that the color I chose (which I hoped MIGHT allow me to also skip my bronzer--"medium to dark") is definitely not that dark. I cannot write about any of the other colors, but it is worth being sure before you plunge!! I do NOT have dark skin, although I tend to have more yellow than pink-toned skin. I've never been sun burned (despite YEARS of 4-5 months/yr as a life guard WITHOUT sun protection). However, I've been wearing sunscreen religiously for over 30 years, wear large sunglasses religiously, and try to wear a hat with a decent brim year round, especially when I'm out for more than 10 minutes. The medium to dark does NOT even make my skin look even a tiny bit darker. I have a systemic medical condition which mandates that I stay out of the sun or if I am exposed, that I'm protected at all times. So, my 'sunless' skin while not considered fair is definitely not tanned at all.

Overall, while I love how smoothly this product goes on, the color is unpredictable, it does not have a primer (which it did not claim to have), so I am essentially only trading one sunscreen for another in my skin care regimen.

Jane Iredale's Dream Tint was a staple in my morning routine for years, I liked the glow and SPF protection that it gave to my skin. However, recently I am not as satisfied with this product, and it seems to leave my skin feeling like there is a mask or film even when it has settled after blending. Not sure if they changed the product or if I did, but I am using going to use up my product and use another line.

Ahh. It seems I conflated the two. Thanks, Jon, for the clarification.

Actually, there are two forms of Boron Nitride. The graphite-like (hexagonal) form is very soft and lubricous. The diamond-like (cubic) form is very hard and abrasive.
