Age: 48

Location: Charlotte Metro Area, NC

Skin Type: Dry

Skin Concerns: Lines around the eyes, sagging and marionette lines

I am 48 years young and feeling great! My wonderful husband and I parented three boys through college and off to their own lives and now I am pursuing a career I am passionate about: dietetics. What began as a concern for my own nutritional needs has transformed into a lifestyle of optimal health and a rewarding career as a Certified Dietary Manager.

Often times I look in the mirror and think “I wish my face looked as good as I feel.” I am physically fit, always remaining active and overcoming some lifestyle issues. However, I failed to care for my face as well as I did my body. Too many years of sun worshipping here in the south (I live in a small town bordering Charlotte, NC) and not always following the best nutrition habits finally caught up with me several years ago. I cannot emphasize enough the impact of proper nutrition and good lifestyle habits to make you not only feel but look your best. I have this and the wealth of information and products I discovered through Truth In Aging to thank for transforming me later in life. For those still experiencing youth, please begin good habits early.

I discovered TIA after having a terrible reaction to a chemical sunscreen in the summer of 2012. I was searching the net for something to help repair the damage and SPF options. Prior to this sunscreen mishap, the first signs of aging had begun to appear around my eyes. I had that dreaded dry, crepey look in the inner corners and under eye area. The sunscreen reaction only made the eye issue worse. My first purchase was Your Best Face Correct, which significantly helped in restoring the appearance of my under eye area. Although Correct is out of my price range for daily use, I do manage to purchase occasionally and maintain the initial results achieved with other products such as AQ Eye Serum and Skinfinte LOL Eye Serum. In addition to concerns regarding the eye area, I also have some sagging issues and marionette lines to deal with as I approach the 50-year mark.

My tried and true favorite products I use on a regular basis include; Ultra Clear for dry brushing (must have), Skinfinite Purify Facial Cleanse or 100% Pure Cucumber Juice Cleanser, 100% Pure Jasmine Green Tea Tonique or Humphrey’s Witch Hazel Toner, YBF Private Reserve Antioxidant Oil (must have), Truth Renew Ultrasonic & LED (this really helps with sagging if used diligently). YBF Prep, Skinfinte LOL Eye Serum and AQ Eye Serum (must haves), Michael Todd True Organics Knu Serum, YBF Antioxidants Concentrate and Hydrate B, Skin Perfection Peptide Fusion the Balm, Raisin Face Skin Fix Xtreme (must have).

When it comes to makeup, I have adopted the “less is more” approach for a natural look instead of too many heavy products that can settle into lines and creases making them look worse. Truth In Aging Hair Vitality Shampoo and Conditioner, and Brow Vitality Complex are all must have products. I will be purchasing the new line of these products. I use cold pressed extra virgin coconut oil for a body moisturizer (face also) along with Juice Beauty Green Apple Firming Body Moisturizer. I also keep CV Skinlabs Rescue + Relief Spray on hand for occasional trouble areas. This product healed a terrible case of eczema on my arms (please see my review).

Dr. Dennis Gross Antioxidant Cleansing Cloths with AHAs

Dr. Dennis Gross Antioxidant Cleansing Cloths with AHAs ($18/30cloths in the shop) are described as multitasking cloths that remove makeup and cleanse skin with additional anti-aging benefits. My skin is 50 years young and tends to be a bit dry.

According to the Dr. Dennis Gross skin care website, these cloths are "saturated with a blend of ingredients to cleanse, clear pores, remove impurities, exfoliate, soothe inflammation, and fight the signs of aging." ...Read More...

    Mukti Tinted Moisturiser with Sunscreen

I have been incorporating Mukti Tinted Moisturiser with Sunscreen SPF 15 (Medium) in my skincare and makeup routines over the last few weeks in various scenarios. I will be 50 in September and have dry skin even in the hot, sticky, humid southern climate.

For everyday work, errands, etc. I used Mukti instead of my usual CC cream with sunscreen and left all other components of my skincare routine the same (oils, serums, eye treatments, moisturizers). Mukti was applied last after moisturizer and followed by a multi-purpose cream color stick for cheeks, eyes, and lips, brow pencil, mas ...Read More...

Royal Nectar Bee Venom Eye Cream

I have been using Royal Nectar Bee Venom Eye Cream ($35 in the shop) twice daily for the last four weeks, incorporating the product into my morning and evening skin care routines without changing anything else except ceasing to use other eye treatments.

On the Nelson Honey website, the product is described as a soothing age-defying eye treatment formulated with a unique blend of New Zealand Manuka Honey an ...Read More...

Nature's Beauty Bee Kiwi Hand and Nail Repair Cream Review

Nature’s Beauty Bee Kiwi Hand and Nail Repair Cream ($19.50), filled with manuka honey, harakeke, shea butter, ginseng and vitamin E supposedly repairs troubled skin and improves its suppleness. Dry, ragged cuticles are my pet peeve, so I applied it at least twice daily, concentrating on the nail bed and cuticle area.

Bee Kiwi Hand and Nail Repair Cream comes in a convenient white tube with a flip top cap for ease of use. The barely discernible fragrance is very light and absorbs quickly, leaving a light sheen on nail beds without any greasiness.
