Skin Concerns: Large pores, deepening wrinkles, saggy neck

Teacher, artist, writer, jack-of-many-trades (or jill?), I live near the ocean in a Victorian house in Massachusetts with my husband and elderly poodle. My two sons are grown and making their own ways — hooray! Surviving breast cancer has made me even more eager to take care of myself. Life is good!

    SimySkin Nourishing Eye Cream

I’d never paid much attention to my eyes in my 56 years, and it was beginning to show. Though I’ve been working on perfecting my general skin texture and giving some extra love to my neck, I’d neglected my eyes. Crow’s feet were forming at the outer corners and under my eyes, dark circles and bagginess were becoming an unattractive nuisance. Stress and sleeplessness and tears while moving my ill mom to an assisted living facility were adding a noticeable imprint on my poor face, especially around my eyes. Not a pretty sight when magnified by reading glasses — u ...Read More...

Royal Nectar Bee Venom Eye Cream

I am 58 years old and have been on a search for the perfect miracle eye cream for the last decade. I have remnants of a dozen jars and tubes of eye creams/lotions/serums that I’ve tried and which failed to impress me enough to stop my search. My skin has always been very oily and although I now have the occasional dry patch, it remains mostly oily which has been helpful in keeping my skin fairly youthful looking. My one complaint is slightly saggy skin on my eyelids and jawline. The perfect eye cream for me would be one that would erase any lines and also would tighten my eyelid area. ...Read More...

E'shee Gene Therapy Cellular Repair Serum

I was thrilled to receive my tiny, 10 ml bottle of E'shee Gene Therapy Cellular Repair Serum ($179 in the shop). With high hopes, I opened the elegant box with its magnetic hinge and skimmed the enclosed informational brochure (there are eight products from which to choose; this is #1, Rejuvenating). My hope: to see supple, glowing skin with a texture as close to a newborn as a 55-year-old might achieve (or, as the box says, “vitality, youthfulness and radiance,” and “the most you ...Read More...

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Premiere Intense Moisture and Renewal Overnight Regeneration Cream

I’ve been using Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Premiere Intense Moisture and Renewal Overnight Regeneration Cream ($97) for about six weeks, and I’m very pleased with this luxe cream and the results! The elegant-looking jar still has plenty of product, even after nightly application.

The texture of this product is very dense with a rich creaminess, and it absorbs quickly. I love the beachy scent that’s sort of salty (perhaps from the “nutrient-rich sea minerals”) as well as the added fragrance. Others of the 50-plus ingredients include ...Read More...

Trinite Organiques Salt of the Earth Face Polish

I tested the Trinite Organiques Salt of the Earth Face Polish ($35), and I’m pleased with the effects; my skin does look polished, if not model-great (though not quite ready for my close-up!). There are no blemishes, dullness or dry patches — just soft, glowing, smooth skin... with evidence of poor skin remaining (some big pores and some scarring). With continued use, I wonder if the product might help to diminish the appearance of those large pores. I feel like I’m pampering myself when I use this face polish.

    I used the face polish twice a w ...
